Bringing Dance to Life in Local Schools

A team of volunteers—including dancers, choreographers, and parents—from the Classical Ballet Theatre of Northern Virginia is teaming up with local schools to bring dance education into the classrooms.  Through a special presentation of the Japanese folktale, “The Stonecutter,” or the French classic “Coppelia,” Classical Ballet Theatre demonstrates how the discipline of ballet can help children develop body strength, good memory, and the ability to coordinate movement with music.  Children also experience how dance brings a story to life and is an important part of every culture.

CBT has provided its community outreach program to over 400 children.  Please contact us for more information about bringing this unique experience to your school.

“Hearing the story first and then seeing it acted out in ballet steps was a great experience for the children"
