Eligibility Requirements

Junior Series

    ~ Female or Male students age 11-14

    ~ Minimum 4 years of ballet training (1 full year on pointe for girls)

Senior Series

    ~ Female or Male students age 14-18

    ~ Minimum 6 years of ballet training (3 full years on pointe for girls)

Location and Cost

All Classical Ballet Theatre master classes are held at the Classical Ballet Theatre studios of Northern Virginia,

    320 Victory Drive, Herndon, VA 20170

Junior Series Classes: $30/class, $110/series

Senior Series Classes: $40/class, $150/series

Dancers not associated with the Academy or Theatre are always welcome.

About Our Guest Instructors

Gavin Larsen

Gavin Larsen was born and raised in New York City. She received her dance training from Dick Andros, Frances Patrelle, and at the School of American Ballet from Antonina Tumkovsky, Helene Dudin, Suki Schorer, Susan Pilarre, Kay Mazzo, Richard Rapp, Elise Reiman and Stanley Williams. She had additional training at the Pacific Northwest Ballet School.

Ms. Larsen began her professional career as a member of Pacific Northwest Ballet under the artistic direction of Kent Stowell and Francia Russell. She has also performed with Alberta Ballet under the direction of Mikko Nissinen, and with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet. 

Since 2003, Ms. Larsen has been a principal dancer with Oregon Ballet Theatre under the direction of Christopher Stowell. There she performs principal roles in ballets by many choreographers, including George Balanchine, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon, Kent Stowell, Christopher Stowell, Helgi Tomasson, James Kudelka, Paul Taylor, and Julia Adam. She is also on the faculty of the School of Oregon Ballet Theatre.

Amy Brandt

Amy Brandt was born in Libertyville, Illinois, where she received her initial dance training at Dancenter North, the Ruth Page Foundation and the Milwaukee Ballet School. She later joined the Milwaukee Ballet, where she danced featured roles in Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Four Temperaments, and Alonzo King's MAP, among others.  In 2003 she joined the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, with whom she’s toured extensively at festivals such as Jacob’s Pillow, New York City’s Fall For Dance and the Edinburgh International Festival. 

Her repertoire includes Balanchine’s Episodes, Scotch Symphony, Pithoprakta, Don Quixote, Divertimento No. 15 and Mozartiana. In 2005, she performed in honor of Ms. Farrell at the nationally televised Kennedy Center Honors. 

Ms. Brandt freelances with several companies in New York City, including Ballet NY, Chamber Dance Project, Dances Patrelle and New Chamber Ballet, and is a founding member of Ad Hoc Ballet. She writes the “Ask Amy” advice column for Pointe magazine, as well as articles for Dance, Dance Spirit and Dance Teacher.
