“As a teacher you have to reach your pupil in the way that they learn the best whether that’s auditorily, kinesthetically, or visually and awaken in them whatever it is that sparks the imagination and brings out the best in them.” - Cynthia Donavin, Founder & Director
ABOUT THE ACADEMY
Known as the “go to” organization for hands-on, intensive training, Classical Ballet Theatre focuses on helping each of its students reach his/her full potential. CBT provides high caliber instruction for all ages and abilities, and it offers master classes, YAGP coaching, summer intensives, choreography camps, and exceptional performance opportunities. While students ages three to six refine their motor skills through structured yet imaginative movement, older children focus on beginning ballet technique as well as posture, flexibility, and strength. As they become more mentally acute and technically adept, with the artistic director’s approval, they study more advanced ballet and modern dance technique, develop their artistry, as well as learn classical ballet repertory, as well as contemporary dance choreography. Upon graduation from CBT, students are professional level artists who are fully prepared for auditions with prestigious dance companies and universities. They also are poised, confident, and focused young adults who have a strong work ethic and excellent time management skills, keys to success in any life pursuit.
